The Tacca chantrieri is native to tropical regions of Southeast Asia. Commonly called Black Bat Flower as the unique flowers are somewhat bat-shaped resembling a bat in flight. The flowers are up to 30cm across and have long 'whiskers' that can grow up to 70cm long. They are an understory plant so prefer shady (partial/full). As they are a tropical plant they don't like the cold so find a position in your home with lots of bright indirect sunlight. They grow well in well-drained soil and like a regular supply of water ensuring the soil is moist.
